    VIBE
Forget about Lavalife. If you're looking for a 60 year old single Greek man, he's definitely here during the day. They're all over the place speaking Greek. It's really...all Greek to me. Otherwise, there's a teacher marking drawings at a booth (seriously). This one is spacious and open and clean though. It's nice.

    I ATE
Craving the quarter pounder. Even after double checking the price of $8.92 for my combo, I realized that the cashier LIED to me and gave me a double quarter pounder. GRR. Then 3/4 way through the meal, realized part of my burger was pink. I'm no hamburger expert but if I see pink in my burger at McDonald's I get concerned!

    OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
It's not a good sign when you say "I don't feel so good" after a McDonald's meal. I don't think I'll need it for another 6 months. Self-sabotage sometimes works!

I bought a small order of fries.  I thought that at least McDonald's fries are okay.

Here's why the Pape and Cosburn McDonald's in Toronto sucks.  There's a big water main project going on in the area.  Lots of noise and construction for months on end.  A huge mess.  Recently I was woken at 2 am. from loud smashing and crashing of construction equipment on a nearby street.  The work that's normally done during the day, they were doing at 2 in the morning.  I called the city to complain the next day and the construction project coordinator called me back.  She told me that all the businesses in the area had been told that they'd have to do without water for a short period during the day in order to complete some work.  All the businesses agreed except one.  The Pape and Cosburn McDonald's.  They refused and, as a result, construction work had to be done in the middle of the night waking up the entire neighbourhood.  I asked the project coordinator if the workers were paid double time.  Yes, she told me.  Who pays for the extra time, I asked.  She told me the city does.  "Meaning the tax payers," I said.  That's right.  What does McDonald's pay, I asked.  "Nothing," she said.

So McDonald's not only refuses to cooperate with the city resulting in construction chaos in the middle of the night.  It also means that the project goes over budget at the tax payers' expense.  Nice.  I called McDonald's customer service to complain.  They said they'd pass along my complaint and that the management of the Pape and Cosburn McDonald's would contact me.  They never did.  I followed up and was told that the management wasn't interested in discussing this with me.  How can I escalate this, I asked.  "You can't," I was told.  I was also told that this isn't just some dopey franchisee.  This particular McDonald's location is run by headquarters.  So it's McDonald's Inc. that's refused a reasonable city construction request resulting in an entire neighbourhood being woken in the middle of the night.  It's McDonald's Inc. that's ripped off the tax payers.  And it's McDonald's Inc. that can't be bothered addressing the complaint.

Eventually I left a message at the head office of McDonald's.  They never bothered to get back to me.  I'm not lovin' it, McDonald's.  You guys are the worst.

I go through this drive thru frequently for coffee on my way out of the city. I've learned to test the coffee before I drive off as 6 out of 10 times its either not stirred or has no sugar. 1large coffee, 1sugar,1milk is my order. 6 out of 10 times they get it wrong. The drive thru staff have their own conversation or argument, and when I try to say I asked for sugar, they blame me for not ordering correctly and the window slams shut. The girl said, make sure you order properly the next time! I think I know I like and ordered 1sugar,1milk. What kind of customer service is that? Blame the customer.  Last night I received a cold coffee. I handed it back and said it's cold. Her response was, I just made the pot 10 minutes ago. I said well it's cold. I observed her pouring a new coffee from the fresh pot as she took a glimpse to see if I was looking. What she had done is pour me the old pot previously hoping I'd just drive off. She blatantly lied. I wouldn't bother stopping there but Toronto makes it impossible to pull up alongside any other establishment to give them the business. McDonald's hogs up corners, has monopoly over surrounding businesses and this is worldwide. They give inferior service while surrounding businesses have to stand on their heads to get customers. I will now make an effort to find a parking spot and patronize local businesses. I hope others join me, so we can boost the economy.

It wasn't that busy considering the major storm we had yesterday, and after driving for over an hour and only moving a few KMs, I figured I'd stop in for a bathroom pit stop, some coffee and my favourite McD thing of all times, the fries.

First the pit stop.. the place was filthy to say the least and surprisingly tiny.. but to make it worse, there was a staff just standing in there blocking the way and just on his phone.

Went back to get my fries, and grabbed a seat and almost sat on a seat with spilled coffee.. luckily I stopped just at the last second.  Grabbed another seat and noticed no one was around to clean anything up during my whole stay.

Finally got to the fries, and it was stone cold.  And by this time, a huge line had developed, and I was too tired and cranky to go do anything about it.  Instead I just kept thinking of the review I was going to write.. but as with all my reviews (except for one) I give it some time so I don't go all out nuclear after a bad experience.

    Bah.
